Delaware VR Travel Videos

You can drive across Delaware in an hour, which is exactly why it rewards slowing down. Walk the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach, where the Atlantic arrives right in front of the arcades, then follow the shore south through Dewey, Bethany and Fenwick Island, a thin line of dune between ocean and bay the whole way. At Lewes, settled by the Dutch in 1631, the ferry from Cape May comes in across Delaware Bay, and the wartime lookout towers at Cape Henlopen open the coast out beneath you. Inland, the marshes of Bombay Hook fill each spring with spawning horseshoe crabs and the birds that follow them, while above Wilmington the Brandywine valley keeps the du Pont gardens at Winterthur. Even the state line is odd here: the northern border is a true arc, drawn twelve miles from a New Castle courthouse, and the only circular state boundary in the country.
