Vermont VR Travel Videos

Vermont is the only New England state with no coastline, and it spends that inheritance on hills instead. Drive almost anywhere in autumn and the sugar maples turn a whole ridge at once, with nothing to interrupt the view — the state banned billboards in 1968 and never brought them back. Follow a back road to one of the hundred-odd covered bridges still carrying traffic, or climb Mount Mansfield, the high point of the state, whose ridgeline reads as a face in profile from the valley below. Smugglers' Notch narrows to a single lane between fallen boulders and closes for the winter. Quechee Gorge drops a hundred and sixty-five feet beneath its bridge. Montpelier is the smallest state capital in the country, walkable end to end in twenty minutes, while Burlington looks west across Lake Champlain to the Adirondacks.
